     Descendants of Martin Byrne Bradford are also descendants of Gov. William Bradford, one of the members of the Mayflower and one of the earliest leaders of the Plymouth Colony. Gov. Bradford is also credited with being the first to proclaim the first Thanksgiving.

     Martin married Lola Jane Barney on 24 April 1882 in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick, Canada. They moved to Eastport, Maine until 1892 and then moved back to Canada, making a home first in Beaver Harbour where Lola was employed as a head sardine packer. With a couple of years Lola was hired by Connors Brothers to help train their fish packers and the family moved to Blacks Harbour. In total, Lola and Martin had eighteen children.
