BENEY, HELEN M. "NELLIE" (BRADFORD) - 1930-1998 - After a brief illness at the Fundy Health Centre, Blacks Harbour, on September 28, 1998, Mrs. Helen (Nellie) Margaret (Bradford) Beney of 91 Sunset Street, Fredericton, formerly of St. George, wife of the late Warren O. Beney. Mrs. Beney was born in Blacks Harbour on June 20, 1930, the daughter of the late Winnfied and Margaret (Donahue) Bradford. She is survived by eight sons; Warren Jr. of Saint John; Winnifred and wife Cheryl of St. Stephen; Richard, St. George; John and Tina, Back Bay; Danny, Saint John; Kenny, St. George; William and Bonita, Lake Utopia and Gerald of Fredericton; four daughters, Margaret Chevarie, Blacks Harbour; Carole, Mrs. Larry Hanley, Back Bay; Barbara Joncas, Saint John, and Susan, Mrs. Marc Robichaud, Beaverdam, N.B.; 20 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; three brothers, Joey Bradford, Blacks Harbour; Grovenor Bradford, Fredericton, and Vincent Bradford, St. George; three sisters, Carvell, Mrs. Floyd Carson, Presque Isle, Maine; Lola Milbury, Havelock, Ontario and Sharon, Mrs. Dave Jewitt, Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Eric; four brothers, Raymond, Winsor, Walter and Martin and one sister Jacqueline. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George. Service will be held Thursday at 4:30 pm from the Blacks Harbour United Pentecostal Church. Interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 2-4, 7-9pm.

BENEY, WARREN ORLO - 1922-1985 - Relatives and friends were saddened by the death of Warren O. Beney which occurred at Fundy Hospital, Blacks Harbour, on July 18, 1985. He was born on August 26, 1922, the son of the late Samuel and Lena Beney of Bonny River, NB. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Margaret (Bradford) Beney; four daughters: Margaret (Mrs. Patrick Chevarie), Carol (Mrs. Larry Hanley), Barbara (Mrs. William Joncas) and Susan; eight sons: Warren Jr., Winnfield, Richard, John, Daniel, Kenneth, William and Gerald; four brothers: Otis, Vincent, Samuel and Arthur; two sisters: Beatrice (Mrs. Melvin Leavitt) and Bessie; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held at the St. George Funeral Home with Rev. S. Burrill officiating. Two hymns were sung, "Sheltered in the Arms of God" and "One More Valley" by Junior and Anne Cooke. Interment took place in the St. George Rural Cemetery. Many floral tributes were received and donations were made to foundations. Pallbearers were Melvin Beney, Carl Beney, Evans Maillet, Joseph Bradford Jr., Donald Bradford Jr., and Neil McLean.

BORTHWICK, ELLEN MAE (BRADFORD) - 1935-2008 - Unexpectedly, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on October 14, 2008, Mrs. Ellen Mae (Bradford) Borthwick, wife of Mr. Glendon Borthwick of Pennfield NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on June 28, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Myles and Alma Mae (Wade) Bradford. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband, Glendon, she is survived by three sons; Stephen Borthwick of Woodstock NB, Tommy (Patti) Borthwick of Utopia NB and Garth (Dolores) Borthwick of Pennfield, one daughter, Sally (Timmy) Richard of Pennfield, 10 grandchildren; Brian, Lindsey, Andrew, Raelene, Mitchell, Cody, Michael, Tyler, Kendra, and special grandson Joshua, four great grandchildren, two sisters; Bertha (Irving) Muise and Floretta Perreault both of Pennfield, one brother, Myles Bradford of Toronto ON and several nieces, nephews and couins. Ellen was predeceased by two brothers; Chipman and Theodore and by two sisters; Deannie Thorne and Lillian Guitard. Prior to her retirement, Ellen worked in the cafeteria at Fundy High School, St. George NB for 25 years. She was completely devoted to her family and loved being a grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and crocheting in her spare time. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting held on Wednesday 7-9 pm and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm from Christ Church (Anglican) at Pennfield NB with interment to follow at the Church Cemetery. In Ellen's memory donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Association or the NB Lung Association would be greatly appreciated by the family.

BRADFORD, ALMA M. (WADE) - 1899-1978 - At the St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John, on February 23, 1978, Mrs. Alma M. Bradford, of Pennfield, in her 79th year; survived by her husband, Myles; three sons; five daughters; one sister; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, Main St., St. George, until noon when the body will be taken to the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church for funeral service at 2pm. Interment in the Rural Cemetery, Pennfield, New Brunswick.

BRADFORD, BARBARA OLIVE (BLOXHAM) - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, on February 16, 1994, Mrs. Barbara Olive (Bloxham) Bradford "Bobby" of 59 Hawthorne Street, St. Stephen, NB. Survived by her husband of 48 years, Albert W. Bradford; daughter, Barbara Jane Bradford of Oakland, Maine; son, Christopher Brian Bradford, at home; granddaughter, Tamara Lynne Dishaw of Waltham, Massachusetts; grandson, Christopher Todd Bradford of North Attleboro, Massachusetts; mother-in-law, Gertrude Bradford of St. Stephen; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Clem and Olive Bloxham and brother, Kenneth Bloxham who died February 2, 1994. A memorial service will be held at Christ Anglican Church, Prince William St., St. Stephen, on Sunday, Feb, 27, 1994 at 2pm with Rev. Keith Howlett officiating. BRADFORD, BEATRICE VIRGINIA (GUPTILL) - 1911-1995 - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen on June 24, 1995, Mrs. Beatrice Virginia Bradford of St. George, wife of the late Mr. Victor H. Bradford. Mrs. Bradford was born at Grand Harbour, Grand Manan a daughter of the late Leonard E. and Lena (Lakeman) Guptill. She is survived by four sons, Victor of Fairhaven, Deer Island, Gailand of St. George, Eugene of Burtts Corner and Brock of St. Andrews, two sisters, Ruth Greenlaw of St. George and Kathleen Stuart of Deer Island, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B. The funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the St. George United Baptist Church with interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. BRADFORD, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN II - 1852-1941 - The death of Benjamin F. Bradford II, one of the village's oldest residents, occurred early Monday morning last after a lingering illness at the advanced age of 89 years, 8 months and 27 days. Mr. Bradford was born at St. Andrews and followed the sea in his younger days, but for the past 46 years he has lived in Black's Harbour. He is the last of his generation and his wife predeceased him 42 years ago. Surviving are four sons, Capt. Beryn Bradford of New York, William J. Bradford of California, Roland H. Bradford, Black's Harbour and Horace P. Bradford of Robbinson, Maine; three daughters, Mrs. Alden S. Dinsmore of Lubec, Maine; Mrs. Alice M. Spray and Mrs. Edward T. Thompson of Black's Harbour; also 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock from the home of his son, Roland H. Bradford and also from Calvary United Baptist Church where the service was conducted by the Rev. Harold Westrup. Interment was made in the old Baptist burying ground.

BRADFORD, BORDEN BARTER - 1937-1988 - At the Fundy Hospital, Blacks Harbour, on Thursday, March 31, 1988, Borden Barter Bradford, son of Edmund and Elizabeth "Betty" (Barter) Bradford, of Pennfield, in his 51st year; survived by his parents; one brother, Howard of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, Main St., St. George, where the funeral service was held on Saturday at 2pm with Rev. Jeffery Hosick officiating. Interment in Pennfield Rural Cemetery. BRADFORD, CONSTANCE LAUREL (THOMPSON) - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB, on December 11, 1998, Mrs. Constance Laurel (Thompson) Bradford, wife of Roland Prescott Bradford of 443 Main Street, Blacks Harbour, NB, daughter of the late Alphonse and Althea Stella (Griffin) Thompson. BRADFORD, CORA SEVELLA (BURRELL) - 1911-1991 - At the Fundy Hospital, Blacks Harbour on Friday, December. 27, 1991, Cora Sevella (Burrell) Bradford of Pennfield, in her 81st year, widow of Donald E. Bradford, Sr. and daughter of the late Howard J. Burrell and her mother Carrie (McLaughlin) Burrell; survived beside her mother by four sons, Roy H. Bradford of Utopia, Frederick A. Bradford of Beaver Harbour, Harold L. Bradford and Donald E. Bradford, Jr., both of Utopia; six daughters, Donaldine (Mrs. Lorne McGarrigle) of Blacks Harbour, Stella (Mrs. Charles Steeves) of Riverview; Twilah (Mrs. Leo Rhynold) of Beaver Harbour, Irene (Mrs. Louis Gagne) of Blacks Harbour, Judy Sommerville of Kitchener, Ont., and Deloris (Mrs. Douglas Lockhart) of Pennfield; 46 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; one sister Fern Sherman of McAdam; one brother, Guy Burrell of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. (Stanhope) Bradford, of Hawthorne Street, St. Stephen, NB. Son of the late Albert and Barbara "Bobbie" Bradford. BRADFORD, EFFIE MAY (CAMICK) - 1910-1989 - At Campobello Nursing Home, Welshpool, Campobello, on Saturday, December 16, 1989, Effie May (Camick) Bradford, widow of Theodore R. Bradford of Blacks Harbour, in her 80th year; survived by three sons, Theodore R. Bradford of British Columbia, Ernest L. Bradford of Blacks Harbour, and Robert A. Bradford; three daughters, Gladys (Mrs. Kenneth Stuart) of Blacks Harbour, Mildred Cooke of Blacks Harbour and Mario Elizabeth Allan of Winnipeg, Manitoba; two brothers, Howard and Edward Camick, both of Deer Island; three sisters, Lillian Doughty of St. Andrews, Sarah Arbeau of Deer Island and Hazel Justason of Deer Island; 27 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, Main Street, St. George, where the funeral service was held on Monday at 2pm with Rev. Glen Gray officiating. The body will be placed in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery vault awaiting burial in the spring in the Blacks Harbour Community Cemetery.

BRADFORD, ELIZABETH "BESSIE" AUGUSTA (ADAMS) - 1931-1996 - Friends and relatives were saddened to learn of the passing of Elizabeth Bradford, which occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital on January 20, 1996, at the age of 64. She was born August 10, 1931 in McAdam, NB, daughter of the late Ben and Mable Adams. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Richard P. Bradford of Oak Bay, two sons, Alan and his wife Donna, Robert and his wife Heidi all of St. Stephen; three daughters, Dixie (Mrs. Dana (Hatton) of Charlotte, Maine, Betty (Mrs. Patrick) Mill of Oak Haven and Janet (Mrs. Victor) Goodine of Oak Bay. A son Harold predeceased her in 1979. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Troy Hatton, Shannon Lane, Richard Bradford, Kim Wallace, Tracy Bedford, David Miller, Katherine Miller and Samantha Bradford and 11 great grandchildren. Three brothers and six sisters also survive her. The funeral service was conducted at Mehan's Funeral Home January 22, 1996 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Interment was made in the Oak Bay cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, Richard Bradford and Troy Hatton and David Miller and nephews Tim Bradford, Danny Bradford and George Purdy. Many floral tributes were received as well as numerous donations to various charities in her memory.

BRADFORD, ELIZABETH "BETTY" KATHERINE (BARTER) - 1910-1990 - Many relatives and friends were saddened to learn of the death of "Betty" Elizabeth Katherine Bradford, wife of Edmund W. Bradford of Pennfield, death occurred on June 15, 1990 at the Saint John Regional Hospital where she was a patient for a few hours, following a lengthy illness at home. Betty, as she was generally known, was born at Penniac, York County, NB, on June 13, 1910, and was a daughter of the late John and Annie (Brewer) Barter. Receiving her early education at Penniac, she later attended Business College in Fredericton, and where she also studied music, both voice and instrumental. On June 9, 1934, she was united in marriage with Edmund W. Bradford of Blacks Harbour, where they resided until moving to their new home in Pennfield in 1958. When first coming to this area she was employed as secretary in the first local Bank of Nova Scotia, and later with Connors Bros. Ltd in their first office. As a member of Calvary United Baptist Church, Betty took an active interest in many phases of the life of the church. She service as the organist and choir director for many years. As a teacher in the Sunday School, a member of the Women's Missionary Society. She organized a junior choir within the church, during this period the young choir members presented a musical concert, the proceeds from this were used to purchase bells for the church belfry, given to the church as a memorial to Mrs. Bradford's young son Brian who died a short time previously. Extremely talented in the field of music, Betty was a well-known music teacher in voice, piano, organ and violin, having many music pupils from the area. She taught music in the Blacks Harbour school. She composed a number of hymns complete with words and music, which were compiled in a book-form kept for her pleasure and that of friends. Ever interested in the community where she lived, with her husband's help, they did a great deal of volunteer work in the local cemetery. And she was a member of the organizing committee set up to establish the Pennfield Community Cemetery. Highly respected and esteemed Betty will be greatly missed by her many friends.

BRADFORD, ERNEST LINDBERG - 1934-2014 - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on March 8, 2014, Mr. Ernest Lindberg Bradford, common law husband of Mrs. Ida (Thompson) Deveau of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Blacks Harbour on July 6, 1934, he was a son of the late Theodore and Effie (Camic) Bradford. A loving common law husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his common law wife Ida, he is survived by one son, Daniel (Colleen) Bradford of L'Etang NB, two daughters; Marlene Bradford (Troy) of St. George NB and Mary Bradford also of St. George NB, 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister, Elizabeth (Raymond) Allen of Winnipeg MB, two sisters in law; Wilma Bradford of Vancouver BC and Eileen Bradford of Blacks Harbour NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Ernest was predeceased by one grandson, Brandon Alexander, two brothers; Robert and Theodore Bradford and by two sisters; Mildred Cooke and Gladys Stuart. Prior to retirement, Ernest worked at Connors Bros in Blacks Harbour for many years. Before finding employment with Connors Bros he served with the Canadian Army for 5 years, serving in various locations overseas including Germany. He was a devoted family man who thought the world of his grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Tuesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Ward officiating. The interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. Visiting at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9. BRADFORD, ERNEST LINDEN - 1901-1941 - The death of Ernest Bradford, occurred on Thursday last after a lingering illness at the home of his mother, Mrs. Lola Bradford. Born here forty years ago, Mr. Bradford had spent almost his entire life in Black's Harbour. Besides his mother he is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Warren Justason, Mrs. John Justason, Mrs. Wesley Leavitt and Mrs. Chipman Brewer, all of Black's Harbour, and Mrs. Wendall Eastabrooks of Marysville; and six brothers, Victor, Walter, Myles, Donald and Theodore, of Black's Harbour, and Harold Bradford of Oak Bay. He was predeceased by his father, Martin Bradford, two brothers who were killed in the First Great War, and two sisters and two brothers who died in early childhood. Funeral service were held Sunday afternoon from the Calvary United Baptist Frances M. McLean Memorial Church, Rev. H.A. Westrup officiating, assisted by Rev. H.C. Mullen and Rev. William Ring. A male quartet sang "Going Down the Valley One by One" and the choir sang "Good Night and Good Morning" and "The Christian's Goodnight". Many floral and spiritual tributes attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The scripture text was taken from the Twenty-Third Psalm: "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil." Interment was made in the new Baptist Cemetery. The pall-bearers were five brothers, Walter Bradford, Donald Bradford, Harold Bradford, Myles Bradford and Gunner Theodore Bradford, and one nephew, Lance-Corporal Eric Bradford.

BRADFORD, FREDERICK A. - 1929-2011 - Former pastor and friend, Fred Bradford of Hampton, husband of Alice (Owens) Bradford passed away at the Bobby's Hope House, Saint John, on June 9, 2011 surrounded by his loved ones after a lengthy illness of cancer. He was born May 21, 1929 in Blacks Harbour, son of the late Donald and Cora (Burrell) Bradford. Besides his wife Alice of 56 years, he leaves to mourn two daughters, Deborah Copp (Stephen), Quispamsis, Rachel Foucault (Roger), Saint John; two sons, Frank, Hampton and James (Carole), Smithtown; fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Joan MacDonald Bradford, Saint John; three sisters, Twilah Rhynold (Leo), Beaver Harbour, Judy Bradford (Doreen Booth), Saint John, Deloris Lockhart (Doug), Blacks Harbour; one brother, Donald (Evelyn), Utopia, NB; two sisters-in-law, Jean Bradford and Marina Bradford; three brothers-in-law, Charles Steeves, Louis Gagne and Charles Owens (Lorna); one uncle Guy Burrell (Winnie); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five sisters, Donaldine, Ann, Stella, Prena and Irene; three brothers, Roy, Harold and Burrell and one great grandson, Nicholas Bradford. The Word of God was his life line - to worship His Lord thru the study of the Bible and thru music, fellow shipping with people and his family brought blessings and joy. If there was a plot of ground, a garden of flowers or vegetables were planted. The fertility of the "soil" and the nurturing of the "soul" gave him great satisfaction; the results a bountiful harvest. The care given by Extra Mural nurses, Kindred Home Care and the Hospice nurses and doctors is greatly appreciated by the family. Visitation will take place at Christian Fellowship Church, 25 Chamberlain Road, Quispamsis, on Saturday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A celebration of Fred's final goal will be held 2:00pm, Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Neil Connolly officiating. Interment will be in Hampton Rural Cemetery. Born in St. Stephen, NB on June 1, 1934, he was a son of the late Victor and Beatrice (Guptill) Bradford. A loving husband, father and grandfather and brother Gailand is survived besides his wife by one daughter, Deborah Meerburg of North York, Ont, two sons, Harold (Carol) Bradford of Renfrew, Ont., and Dr. Rodney (Brenda) Bradford of Mount Uniacke, NS; two stepdaughters Sharon Ann (Peter) Scholten of Saint John, NB and Leslie Jane (John) Bouchard of Beaumont PQ; eleven grandchildren, Leslie, Brian, and Riley Meerburg, Jerika, Angela, Steven, Kayla, Leah and Brad Bradford, Ashely and Natalie Scholten and Amy Bouchard. Three Brothers, Victor (Caroline) Bradford of Deer Island, NB, Eugene (Barbara) Bradford of Burtts Corner, NB and Brock (Ainslie) Bradford of St. Andrews, NB. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gailand was a school teacher for 35 years and served as Principal for Eastern Charlotte Regional School and later Fundy High School in St. George for 19 years. BRADFORD, GRACE D. (LEAVITT) - 1894-1976 - The death of Grace D. Bradford of Blacks Harbour occurred on February 10, 1976 at the Fundy Hospital at the age of 82. She was the former Grace Leavitt, daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Leavitt. She was born at Bethel on December 31, 1894, and was married to Roland Bradford of Blacks Harbour. He predeceased her on December 26, 1957. She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Inez Whittier of Rolling Dam, Mrs. Bernice O'Neill of Blacks Harbour, and Mrs. Earl Cyr (Joyce) of Saint John; one son, Roland Bradford of Toronto; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Mrs. Earl Elliott (Clara) of California and Mrs. Francis York (Ella) of Florida. Funeral services were held at the Wesleyan Church on February 12, with Rev. Jack Fancy officiating. Two favourite hymns were sung by the choir, "Sweet Bye and Bye: and "Whispering Hope". The pallbearers were five grandchildren: Sherman Bradford, Richard Bradford, Vance Bradford, Michael O'Neill, David Cyr and a cousin, Leo Wilcox. Interment in the Blacks Harbour Community Cemetery.

BRADFORD, HAROLD FORBES "HAL" - 1960-2012 - Born on October 1, 1960, Harold Forbes "Hal" Bradford peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer, on Monday, June 11, 2012. Beloved son of Ellen Bradford-Nightingale and the late Gailand Bradford of St. George, N.B.; cherished husband of Carole (nee Matteau); proud and loving father to Jerika, Angela and Steven; dear brother of Debbie (George Ross) and Rod (Brenda), and will be sadly missed by his parents-in-law, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family members. Hal truly enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting and ATV riding. Our sincere thanks to Deborah Armstrong, RN Revera and to the staff at the OGH, QCH and RVH for their dedication, love and care. Family and friends paid their respects to Hal on Thursday, June 14 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday after 12 noon at the Goulet Funeral Home, 310 Argyle St., S, Renfrew, Ontario. The largely attended funeral was held in the Renfrew Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Pallbearers were his life-long friends Bill and Terry Martin, his cousin Roy Bradford, his nephews Brian and Riley Meerburg, his friend and co-worker Brian. Hal's brother, Rod Bradford, gave the eulogy. The interment was in the Goshen cemetery. Hal will be greatly missed by his loved ones and all those who knew him.

BRADFORD, HAROLD LESTER - 1884-1957 - Funeral services for Harold Lester Bradford, who died suddenly on December 4, 1957, were held at MacDonald's Funeral Home last Friday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. B. D. Earle. Pallbearers were members of the Canadian Legion and a military service was held at the grave. Floral tributes were received from many relatives and friends. Mr. Bradford was born in Eastport in 1884 and moved to Blacks Harbour at an early age. After serving his country in the First World War, he bought a farm at Oak Bay and had resided there since. He is predeceased by wife, Margaret (Davies) and infant son, Harold William. He is survived by three sons, Richard, Norman and Donald, all of Oak Bay, and four daughters, Kathleen (Mrs. Milton Morrell) of Oak Bay, Marjorie (Mrs. Leo Dickerson) of Milltown, Maine, Nancy (Mrs. Harold Floyd) of Saint John, and Miss Helen Bradford of Blacks Harbour. Also surviving are four brothers, five sisters and 25 grandchildren.

BRADFORD, HAROLD LESTER "HALLY" - 1930-1997 - Unexpectedly at his residence on April 23, 1997, Mr. Harold Lester Bradford of Pennfield, husband of Marina M. (Clarke) Bradford. Born in Blacks Harbour on December 20, 1930, he was the son of the late Donald E. and Cora (Burrell) Bradford. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Blacks Harbour. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Harold loved the outdoors, particularly hunting. He is survived by his wife; his grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Spencer of McAdam; one son, Harold Richard Jr. and wife Darlene of Beaver Harbour; four daughters, Patricia (Mrs. Robert Hanselpacker), St. George, Susan Marie Bradford, Saint John, Frances (Mrs. Allen Murray), St. George and Geneva (Mrs. Matthew Dehkurdi) of British Columbia; 10 grandchildren, Darren Hanselpacker, Jill (Mrs. Derek Cheney), Jan and Alyson Murray, Hannah and Ashely Bradford, all of St. George, David, Jonathan, Benjamin and Andrew Dehkurdi of British Columbia; one great-grandson, Cameron of Fitzgerald of Saint John; three brothers, Roy of Pennfield, Fred of Hampton and Donnie of Lake Utopia; four sisters, Twilah (Mrs. Leo Rhynold), Beaver Harbour, Irene (Mrs. Louis Gagne), Blacks Harbour, Judy Sommerville, Blacks Harbour, Delores (Mrs. Douglas Lockhart) of Blacks Harbour; several nieces and nephews. BRADFORD, HAZEN JAMES - 1922-1990 - Hazen James Bradford passed away June 15, 1990, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, P.E.I. in his 69th year. He was born in Blacks Harbour, N.B. January 21, 1922. He was the son of the late Victor Hugo Bradford, Sr. and the late Linnie Eva (Towers) Bradford. Besides his wife Lillian (Watts) Bradford he is survived by one son James Bradford, Saint John, two daughters, Brenda Willson, Savage Harbour, P.E.I. and Kimberlea Bradford, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; one granddaughter, Cynthia Willson, Banff, Alberta and one grandson, Mark Willson, Savage Harbour, P.E.I.; two brothers, Victor Bradford, St. George and Edmund Bradford, Pennfield; one sister, Vivian Calhoun, Saint John and several nieces and nephews. He joined the RCAF 1942-1945. He was employed by Connors Bros. Ltd., 30 years. He was a machinist; he designed and built machines. He was also employed as a machinist with Bruce Stewart Co. Ltd., Charlottetown, P.E.I. He retired in 1982. He was a member of the RCAF Association and a 35 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He loved nature, birds, flowers, gardening, music, hunting and fishing. His funeral was held at the St. George Funeral Home, June 28. Rev. Gerald Burke officiating. Mrs. Ellen Bradford accompanied herself on the organ and sang beautifully, the Battle Hymn if the Republic and the Old Rugged Cross. Pallbearers were Nelson Watts, Edison Watts, Thompson Knox from Charlottetown, Victor E. L. Bradford, Gailand Bradford and Martin Bradford. Interment was in Pennfield Cemetery. Many beautiful floral tributes were received and donations were made to the various memorial funds. Among the many relatives and friends attending the funeral were those from Charlottetown, Sherwood, Union, Winsloe, Savage Harbour, P.E.I. Saint John, Fredericton, St. Andrews, St. Stephen, Deer Island, St. George and Blacks Harbour.

BRADFORD, HOWARD CHARLES - 1916-1934 - The community was greatly shocked and grieved to learn of the death on Tuesday, March 13th 1934, of Howard Charles Bradford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor H. Bradford Sr., at St. Stephen, at the age of 18 years. He had been ill only since the previous Thursday, when an emergency operation was performed. The young man was a pupil in grade eleven of the high school, and was to graduate at the end of June. He had a disposition that made him popular with his fellow students, and was known and liked by all in the community for his bright and friendly way. He was an excellent student and keenly interested in physical training and sport. His chief interest was nature, and he was a very skilful woodsman. He held the office of junior forest warden for this district, and he had written some short stories and poems about nature and his friends the birds. He was reader of the Trail Rangers, and he was also a teacher of the intermediate boys' class of the Sunday school of the Blacks Harbour Baptist Church. The sympathy of the whole community is extended to the bereaved parents and family. He is survived by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Victor H. Bradford Sr., two sisters, Mrs. D. J. Springer and Miss Vivian Bradford, and four brothers, Victor Jr., Edmund, Eric and Hazen. The remains were brought to Blacks Harbour by boat on Wednesday, and the funeral was held on Friday at 2 o'clock from the home of his parents, with a service in the Blacks Harbour Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Heaton Flanagan, pastor, assisted by Fred Anderson, Lic. The church was filled to capacity, all standing room being taken, and followed the remains to their last resting place. Mr. Flanagan spoke touchingly of the young boy's life, and Mr. Anderson offered prayer. The boy's favourite hymn was sung, "In the Sweet Bye-and-Bye." Other hymns were "Some Time We'll Understand" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", and at the grave "Will the Circle Be Unbroken". The pall-bearers were five uncles of the young man: Donald Bradford, Myles Bradford, W. W. Bradford, Theodore Bradford and Ernest Bradford, and his best chum, Leonard Theriault. Interment was in the Blacks Harbour Baptist Cemetery. There was a great profusion of lovely flowers, including wreaths, sprays and individual bouquets from Connors Bros. Limited office and store staffs, from his school mates and the Sunday School.

BRADFORD, HOWARD DALE - 1935-2005 - Howard Dale Bradford, 70, of Ellabell, Georgia, since 1997, U.S.A., died September 23, 2005 at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. He was born September 18, 1935 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada to William Edmund and Elizabeth (Barter) Bradford. Mr. Bradford is survived by his wife of fifty years Sandra Lewis Bradford; Mr. Bradford is survived by his wife of fifty years Sandra Lewis Bradford; daughter and son-in law Wendy Ann and Alan Reeve of Ellabell, Georgia, daughter and son-in law Catherine Dale and Robert Haywood of Lee, Massachusetts, and Vivian Kish of Fitzgerald, Georgia; grandchildren Stephanie Bradford, Brian Bradford, Christina M. Bradford, Christina L. Meyers, Jason Reeve, Robert Haywood and Michael Haywood; great-grandchildren Caleb Meyers, Casey Meyers, Caitlin Meyers, Taylor Deas, and Hannah Barnes; and an aunt Vivian Bradford Calhoun of St. John's, New Brunswick, Canada. He was predeceased by his parents; 2 brothers, Borden and Brian; and 3 sons, Brian Kenneth, Daniel Howard and William Edmund. Mr. Bradford attended the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, and, in 1961, moved his family to the U.S. where he became a U.S. citizen in 1980. Throughout his career, Bradford worked as a maintenance superintendent with Georgia-Pacific and Kimberly Clark. During his work at Georgia-Pacific, he traveled extensively with his family, and while working for Kimberly Clark in Lee, Massachusetts, he was the maintenance superintendent multiple mill operations. At Howard's request, his remains will be scattered with his sons at the Oak Hill Cemetery of Florida.

BRADFORD, JOSEPH FRANCIS "JOEY" Sr. - 1933-2007 - Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, on January 20, 2007, Mr. Joseph Francis Bradford Sr., husband of Ruby (Zwicker) Bradford of Pennfield, NB. Born in Blacks Harbour, NB on December 11, 1933, Joseph was a son of the late Walter and Margaret (Donahue) Bradford. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife Ruby, two sons; Joseph Bradford Jr. and Barry Bradford both of Blacks Harbour, two daughters; Trudy (Evans) Mailett of Pennfield, Stephanie (Darren) Pardy of Renforth, NB, seven grandchildren; Joey, Jordon, Bradley, Necia, Darren, Taylor and Sandy, one brother; Grovener (Caroline) Bradford of Fredericton, NB, one sister; Lola Milbury of Toronto, ON, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by one son; Roderick John Bradford, one grandson; Roderick G. Bradford, five brothers; Walter, Marnie, Raymond, Vincent and Windsor, four sisters; Cavell, Jacqueline, Nellie and Sharon. Prior to his retirement, Joey worked for Connors Brothers for 45 years as a Shipper/Receiver in the warehouse division as well as a foreman. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan and also loved music, especially by his favourite performer Willie Nelson. Joey was a devoted family man who loved his family very much from his immediate to his large extended family. He was a member of the Apostolic Mission in Pennfield, NB. Resting at the Apostolic Mission, Pennfield NB, with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the church on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Wade Bradford officiating, assisted by Pastor Reginald Ferris and Pastor Gordon Cooke. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. BRADFORD, KENNETH JOSEPH - 1965-2013 - February 19, 2013, Mr. Kenneth Joseph Bradford, husband of Mrs. Jocelyn (Justason) Bradford of L'Etang NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on March 29, 1965, he is the son of Eileen (Babineau) Bradford and the late Robert Bradford. A loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, in addition to his wife Jocelyn, he is survived by his children, Jenny Palk of Saint John NB, Olivia Palk of Ontario and Emily Bradford of L'Etang NB, one grandchild, Paige Doughty of Saint John NB, his mother, Eileen Bradford of Blacks Harbour NB, two brothers; George (Heather) Bradford of Ontario and Marvin Bradford of Nova Scotia, one sister, Judy (Chris) Seeley of Pennfield NB and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Prior to his illness, Kenny worked in the construction industry for several years with JB Builder's and Teddy Wright's Construction. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping. A quiet man, he will be sadly missed by his family, co-workers and many friends. BRADFORD, LINNIE E. (TOWERS) - 1891-1970 - Mrs. Linnie E. Bradford, wife of Victor H. Bradford Sr., died at the Fundy Hospital in Blacks Harbour on September 2, 1970, at the age of 79. She had been in failing health for some time. She was a life long resident of Blacks Harbour, where she was respected by all. Her main interest was her home and family, to which she was devoted. Born in L'Etete, New Brunswick, in 1891, she was the daughter of the late Prudence and George Towers. She married Victor H. Bradford in 1906. She is survived by her husband; four sons: Victor Bradford Jr., of St. George, Edmund Bradford of Pennfield, Eric Bradford of Saint John, Hazen Bradford of Charlottetown, PEI; two daughters: Doris (Mrs. Delbert Springer) of Massena, New York, and Mrs. Vivian Calhoun of Blacks Harbour; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 1 brother Howard Towers of Lubec, Maine, and 2 sisters, Mrs. Elmer Crowley of Waterbury, Connecticut, and Mrs. Peter Hooper of Back Bay; several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held from the home with Rev. A. S. Carpenter of the Foreign Mission Board conducting the service. Assisting were Rev. J. F. McElhinney of the Wesleyan Church, Blacks Harbour, and Rev. William Ring of the Pentecostal Church, Blacks Harbour. Mrs. Bradford was a member of long standing of the Calvary United Baptist Church. The service was attended by many friends and relatives from Blacks Harbour; Lubec, Maine; Albany, New York; Massena, New York; Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; Prince Edward Island; Saint John; St. Andrews and Deer Island. A vocal trio, Laurie Ingersoll, Mrs. Bert Gallagher and Mrs. Gailand Bradford, accompanied by Mrs. Edmund Bradford at the piano, rendered two of Mrs. Bradford's favorite hymns: "Near the Cross" and "Under his Wings". Burial was in Blacks Harbour Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were Howard D. Bradford, Gailand Bradford, Brock Bradford, Eric Bradford Jr., James Bradford and Elbridge G. Calhoun Jr., all grandsons of the late Mrs. Bradford. The tributes included donations to the Cancer Fund, Heart Foundation, Fundy Hospital Association, and the Baptist Women's Missionary Union. Among many floral tributes were those of the Directors of Connors Bros. Ltd.; Senator D. A. McLean; Donald Patterson, MLA and wife; H. W. Welch Ltd.;, Grant's Store, Massena, NY; Cargill, Jenkintown, PA; the Management and Staff of Bruce Stewart, Charlottetown, PEI; Calvary United Baptist Church, Blacks Harbour; Office staff of H. W. Welch Ltd., and many others from family and friends.

BRADFORD, LOLA JANE (BARNEY) - 1866-1949 - Woman Who Packed First Connors Bros. Sardines Was Mother of 18 - Mr. Lola Jane Bradford, aged 83 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chipman H. Brewer Sunday evening, May 22, 1949, following an illness of several months. She had been an outstanding figure in community life and church work during her years of residence here in Blacks Harbour. Mrs. Bradford learned to pack fish in Eastport and upon moving to Blacks Harbour in 1895 she packed the first sardines for Connors Brothers and instructed others. She also packed the first sardines shown by Connors Brothers at the Saint John Exhibition for which the firm won a medal. Formerly Lola Barney, she was born in Saco, Maine, May 6, 1866. Shortly after moving to Eastport in 1882, she married Martin B. Bradford. Six of her children were born in Eastport. In 1892 the family moved to Beaver Harbour where two more children were born. In April 1895, they moved to Blacks Harbour where ten children were born making 18 in all. There are eleven children now living: Victor H. Bradford, Donald Bradford, Mrs. Chipman H. Brewer, Mrs. Warren Justason, Mrs. John Justason and Mrs. Wesley Leavitt Sr. all of Blacks Harbour, and Mrs. Wendall Estabrooks of Marysville; Winfield, Miles and Theodore, of Pennfield, and Harold Bradford of Oak Bay. She is also survived by 82 living grandchildren and 83 living great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bradford has four brothers who served in the American Civil War, four sons in the First World War, one killed in active service and one who died of a wound after returning home. In the Second World War, she had one son in active service, also eleven grandsons and one granddaughter. Mrs. Bradford has been a member of the Baptist Church longer than anyone else in the village, having first joined as a girl in Maine. She was a staunch member of Calvary United Baptist Church. Her husband, Martin Bradford, predeceased her February 24, 1917. The funeral was held at Calvary United Baptist Church at 2:30 Wednesday, Rev. William Randall conducting the service assisted by H. S. Wilson of the Reformed Baptist Church.

BRADFORD, MADGE MARIE (STOREY) - After a lengthy illness at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, on November 17, 1995, Mrs. Madge Marie (Storey) Bradford of St. George, wife of Mr. Vincent A. Bradford. She is survived by her husband; daughter, Gail McLean of Saint John; son Gary Bradford of Fredericton; grandson, Nathan McLean, and granddaughter, Sarah McLean, both of Saint John; step-father, Gerald McArthur of Montreal; two sisters, Jeanette McLellan of Montreal, Helen Bernie of Walton, Ontario; three aunts Ester Roy of Revelstoke, British Columbia, Nell LeMeine of Los Angeles, and Grace Johnston of Salisbury; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bradford was born in Doaktown., NB, daughter of the late Howard M. and Freda M. (Johnston) Storey. She worked as an assistant Postmistress in Blacks Harbour for 23 years. Resting at St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. The funeral service was held on Monday at 2pm from the St. Mark's Anglican Church, St. George. Interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery.

BRADFORD, MARGARET "MAGGIE" MARY (DONAHUE) - 1901-1972 - Funeral service was held in the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church at Blacks Harbour, for Margaret Mary Bradford, widow of the late Winfield Bradford. She was 71 years old. She was the daughter of the late James and Catherine Donahue of Newcastle, born on July 10, 1901, but lived the greater part of her life in Blacks Harbour. Survived by six sons: Walter Bradford, who lived at home with his mother, Martin Bradford of Toronto, ON, Vincent Bradford of Blacks Harbour, Raymond Bradford of Toronto, ON, Joseph Bradford of Blacks Harbour, and Grovenor Bradford of Marysville, NB; five daughters: Mrs. Floyd Carson (Carvel) of Presque Isle, ME, Mrs. Warren Beney (Nellie) of St. George, Mrs. David Suttie (Jacqueline) of Blacks Harbour, Mrs. Allen Gregory (Sharon) of Marysville, NB, and Mrs. Paul Milbury (Lola) of Toronto, ON. She has 38 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by three brothers: Vincent Donahue of St. Andrews, Clair Donahue of Blacks Harbour, and John Donahue of London, ON; three sisters: Mrs. Raymond Trecartin of Saint John, Mrs. Franklin Justason (Nellie) of Blacks Harbour, and Mrs. Skiffington Hornbrook of Calais, ME; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Larry Donahue, Sonny Hornbrook, Blain Justason, Keith Leavitt, George Justason and Harold Bradford. Interment in Blacks Harbour Community Cemetery.

BRADFORD, MARTIN WILLIAM - Unexpectedly at St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John, N.B. on April 29, 1993, Martin William Bradford of Carleton St., Saint John, N.B. formerly of Blacks Harbour, husband of the late Clytie (Chase) Bradford, son of the late Winfield Bradford and the late Margaret (Donahue) Bradford; survived by one son, Gordon Milbury of Scarborough, ON; four brothers, Walter and Joseph of Blacks Harbour, Vincent of St. George and Grovener of Fredericton; four sisters, Cavell (Mrs. Floyd Carson) of Fort Fairfield, ME, Lola (Mrs. Paul Milbury) of Havelock, ON, Mrs. Nellie Beney of St. George and Sharon (Mrs. David Jewett) of Fredericton; one aunt, Nellie Justason of Seeley's Cove and one uncle, Clare Donahue of Blacks Harbour; close companion, Leah Campbell; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two brothers, Windsor and Raymond and one sister Jackie. Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage St., St. George. Funeral service was held on Monday, May 3, at 2 p.m. from the Calvary United Baptist Church, in Blacks Harbour, N.B. Interment in Toronto, ON.

BRADFORD, MYLES S. - 1900-1979 - At the Fundy Hospital in Blacks Harbour on April 24, 1979, Myles S. Bradford of Pennfield, Charlotte County, in his 79th year; survived by three sons, five daughters, one brother, three sisters, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, Maine Street, St. George, until Friday, April 27, noon when the body will be taken to the Wesleyan Church, Blacks Harbour for service at 2pm. Interment in the Rural Cemetery, Pennfield. Visiting from 10am to 9pm, Wednesday and Thursday, Friday from 10am to 11:30am.

BRADFORD, NORMAN LESTER - 1921-1997 - With his family at his side, Norman Bradford passed way October 26, 1997 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 76. Born on June 28, 1921 in St. Stephen, he was the son of the late Harold and Margaret (Davies) Bradford. One sister, Kay and an infant brother Harold predeceased him. He lived all his life at the Bradford Homestead on Oak Haven Road. He is survived by his wife Arlene; five sons, Ronnie, Raymond, and Brian (Nancy) all of Alberta; Bruce (Karen), Danny (Danielle) of Oak Haven; two daughter, Bonnie (Mike) Cleghorn, of Oak Bay, and Pam (Doug) Haley of Burnt Hill; 19 grandchildren, two brothers, Dick, Oak Bay and Don, Oak Haven, three sisters, Nancy (Harold) Floyd; Helen Meighan both of Saint John, NB and Marge Dickinson, Peabody, Mass. Norman enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1941 and served in the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean areas and Continental Europe. He was wounded while doing battle. He was discharged in 1945 receiving the medals, 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France-Germany Star, Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp. On June 30, 1950, Norman was united in marriage to Arlene Bartlett. Together they built a family of seven and enjoyed life to the fullest. Norman worked outdoors all his life supporting his family the best he could. Although he was wounded in the army, he never let his family go without. Norman had a charisma about him that made his family and grandchildren flock around him. He was always cheerful and made everyone laugh. Norman loved the outdoors, going fishing, hunting and boating. He was an outdoors person, and always planted a garden with his wife. He loved to go on trips and often did with his family. He enjoyed taking long drives in one of his many vans with his wife. Always kind and helpful, Norman will deeply be remembered for always being there and having a door that was always opened to anyone in need. The funeral service was conducted at the S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home on October 29, 1997, with Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity officiating. The soloist, Linda Bartlett sang one of his favorite hymns The Old Rugged Cross selected by the family. A very touching song Tears in heaven was played in memory of Norman, selected by his family. A poem written by Kathy Bradford and read by Jessica Cleghorn, granddaughters of Norman was read at the closing of the service. Nephew Doug Bartlett rendered the eulogy. Pallbearers were sons, Brian, Bruce and Danny, sons in law, Mike and Doug and nephew Tim. Members of the Royal Canadian Branch No. 9 attended the service. He was laid to rest at the Bradford plot in the Oak Bay Cemetery. Graveside service was officiated by Rev. Mary Beth Moriarity. Member of the Legion formed a guard of honor at the graveside. The family will deeply miss their father, grandfather, husband and friend, but will forever have the memories of his loving smile and the great times they had together. At the closing of the graveside service, the family selected this poem read by Norman's daughter, Pam.

BRADFORD, RAYMOND LINDEN - 1931-1975 - Raymond Linden Bradford passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 1975 at his residence in Toronto, Ontario. Mr. Bradford was born on December 28, 1931, the son of the late Winfield and Margaret Bradford of Blacks Harbour. At the time of his death, he was employed with the Metropolitan Toronto Roads Department, where he and his family have lived the past seven years. Mr. Bradford leaves to mourn, his wife, the former Dorothy Simms; two sons: Linden and Martin, both at home; five brothers: Walter J., Martin W., Vincent A., Joseph F., all of Blacks Harbour and Grovener C., of Fredericton; five sisters: Mrs. Floyd Carson (Carvell) of Presque Isle, Maine, Mrs. Paul Milbury (Lola) of Toronto, Mrs. Warren Beney (Helen) of St. George, Mrs. David Suttie (Jacqueline) of Blacks Harbour, and Mrs. David Jewett (Sharon) of Fredericton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held from Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, Toronto, Ontario. Interment was made in Pine Hill Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario.

BRADFORD, RICHARD PAUL "DICK" - 1919-1999 - Friends and relatives were saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of Richard "Dick" Bradford at his residence, 2142 Route 755, Oak bay, NB on October 28, 1999 at the age of 79. He was born on November 18, 1919 in Blacks harbour, NB, son of the late Harold L. and Margaret (Davies) Bradford. He is survived by two sons, Alan and his wife, Donna of St. Stephen, Robert and his wife Heidi, of Oak Bay; three daughters, Dixie, (Mrs. Dana) Hatton, of Charlotte Maine, Betty (Mrs. Patrick) Miller of Oak Haven, and Janet (Mrs. Victor) Goodine of Oak Bay, NB; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, two sisters, Marge Dickinson, of Peabody, Mass., and Nancy Floyd, of Saint John, NB. He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth (Bessie) and a son, Harold Wayne Bradford, also three brothers and two sisters. Dick was a mechanic by trade and worked at Lawson Motors for many years. One of his favorite pastimes was gardening, and took great pride in his strawberry patch. The funeral service was conducted at Mehan's Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 30, 1999 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Hinton officiating. Interment was in Oak Bay Cemetery. Pallbearers were his children Dixie, Alan, Betty, Bob, Janet and son in law Victor Goodine. Donation to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundations would be greatly appreciated by the family.

BRADFORD, ROBERT ALEXANDER "BOBBY" - 1935-2006 - At the Saint John Regional Hospital, on December 1, 2006, Mr. Robert Alexander Bradford, husband of Eileen (Babineau) Bradford of Blacks Harbour, NB. Born in Blacks Harbour on October 06, 1935, he was a son of the late Theodore and Effie (Camic) Bradford. A loving father and grandfather, Bobby is survived by his wife, Eileen, one daughter; Judy (Chris) Seeley of Pennfield, NB three sons; George (Heather) Bradford of Bridgetown, ON Kenny (Jocelyn) Bradford of Letang, NB Marvin (Vicki) Bradford of Kentville, NS nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother; Ernest (Ida) Bradford of Blacks Harbour, one sister; Elizabeth (Raymond) Allen of Winnipeg, MB one sister-in-law; Wilma Bradford of Vancouver, BC and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother; Theodore Bradford Jr., and two sisters; Mildred Cooke and Gladys Stewart. Bobby was an avid outdoorsmen. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also and avid Bingo player and loved to go to a game when he had the chance. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB on Sunday from 7-9 pm and on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Blacks Harbour, on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 1:00 pm with Father John Ighacho officiating. BRADFORD, RODERICK JOHN - 1966-1971 - At the Dr. W. F. Roberts Hospital School, Saint John West, on December 8, 1971, Roderick Bradford, son of Joseph and Rubie (Zwicker) Bradford of Blacks Harbour; survived by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, his maternal and paternal grandmothers, several uncles and aunts. Rested at the St. George Funeral Home until Thursday when the body was taken to his parents' residence, Blacks Harbour, where prayers were said at 2 pm, following by service in the United Pentecostal Church, Blacks Harbour. Interment in the Memorial Chapel in Pennfield.

BRADFORD, ROLAND HENRY - 15 April 1896 - 26 December 1957 - Roland Henry Bradford died at the Fundy Hospital where he had been a patient for a few days after several months of illness. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Bradford, he was born on April 1, 1896, at Blacks Harbour, where he had lived and work all his life. He was an employee of Connors Bros. Ltd. and was a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters. Mr. Bradford is survived by his wife, the former Grace Delora Leavitt; two sons: Roland Jr. of Toronto, and Vance at home; three daughters, Mrs. Horace Whittier (Inez) of Rollingdam, Miss Bernice Bradford and Miss Joyce Bradford at home; two brothers, Horace Bradford of Robbinston, Maine, and William Bradford of Santa Rosa, California; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Spray of Saint John and Mrs. Eva DInsmore of Lubec, Maine; and eight grandchildren. The funeral was held from his home to the Reformed Baptist Church, where service was conducted by the minister, Rev. Errol R. Watson. Assisting him was rev. Arthur MacIllroy, pastor of Blacks Harbour Pentecostal Church. Pallbearers were Roy Bradford, Vincent Bradford, Leo Wilcox, Carrol McGee, Martin Bradford and Raymond Bradford. Interment was in the Blacks Harbour Community Cemetery.

BRADFORD, ROY HARRY "BUDDY" - 1928-2002 - Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 26, 2002 following a lengthy illness Mr. Roy "Buddy" Harry Bradford of Utopia, N.B. husband of Jean (Burris) Bradford. Born in Blacks Harbour, N.B. on April 2, 1928 he was a son of the late Donald and Cora (Burrell) Bradford Sr. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife; one son Kalvin (Lynda) of Seattle, WA; three daughters Beverley Frost (Garry) of Bonny River, Coleen Schmiedendorf (Paul) of Cambridge, ON and Maureen Bradford of Utopia; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers Donald (Evelyn) of Utopia and Freddie (Alice) of Hampton, N.B.; four sisters Delores Lockhart (Doug) and Irene Gagnon (Louis) both of Blacks Harbour, Judy Bradford of Niagara Falls, ON and Twilah Rhynold (Leo) of Beaver Harbour, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Burrell and Harold and four sisters: Anne Gaudett, Stella Steeves, Prena Deveau and Donaldine McGarrigle. Buddy as he was known to all his many friends and family was an avid outdoorsman. He particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the N.B. Fish and Game Association. Prior to retirement Buddy was employed with Connors Brothers as an electrical supervisor for 44 years. Resting at the Wesleyan Church in Blacks Harbour from where the service will be held on Friday at 2 pm with Rev. Bruce Cheney officiating. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. Visiting hours at the church on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Buddy's memory, the family have requested memorials to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or to a charity of the donors choice. BRADFORD, THEODORE ALVIN - 1924-2003 - Peacefully at his residence on Monday, January 6th, 2003, Theodore Alvin Bradford of West Saint John, NB. Born in 1924, he is the son of the late Myles and Alma (Wade) Bradford. A veteran of World War 2, he served with the Canadian Armed Forces with the rank of Sargeant. Theodore is survived by his beloved companion and caregiver Flora Rice. Son Gerald Bradford of Richmond, B.C. Daughters Deborah MacFarlane of Dartmouth, N.S.. Patricia Carrier (Joseph) of Pennfield, NB, Bonita Michaud (Jim) and Mary Lou Price (Jim), sisters, Lillian Guitard, Bernadine Therrault, all of Saint John, Ellen Borthwick (Glen), Bertha Muise (Irvin), Floretta Perreault all of Pennfield, NB and brother Myles Bradford of Toronto, Ont., 11 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Theodore was predeceased by his parents, and one brother Chipman. By Theodore's request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Cremation will take place followed by an interment of ashes in Cedar Hill Extension Field of Honour. BRADFORD, VICTOR E. L. - 1933-2008 - It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Mr. Victor E.L. Bradford husband of Mrs. Caroline (Coleman) Bradford of Deer Island NB, after a lengthy battle with cancer on June 24, 2008 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on March 31, 1933, he was a son of the late Victor H. and Beatrice (Guptill) Bradford. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind three sons; Victor of St. George NB, Roy (Mary) and Larry (Sandra) both of Deer Island, grandchildren; Amy (Tim) of Saint John NB, Erica (Matt) of St. George, Brock (Beth) of Beaver Harbour NB, Aaron (Ashley) of Deer Island, Tara and Darren of Saint John, one great grandchild, Jaiden, two brothers, Eugene (Barb) of Fredericton NB and Brock (Ainslie) of St. Andrews NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Gailand Bradford. Prior to his retirement, Vic managed both H.W. Welch factories for Connors Bros. at Deer Island and Campobello. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed the outdoor life, especially being on the water in his boat, fishing for lobster and scallops as his retirement hobby. He loved spending time with his family and friends. There will be no visitation by request. BRADFORD, VICTOR HAROLD Jr. - 1907-1991 - Unexpectedly at his residences on Friday, August 30, 1991, Victor Harold Bradford, in his 84th year, husband of Beatrice (Guptill) Bradford of Canal, Charlotte Co., NB; survived by his wife; four sons, Victor of Fairhaven, Deer Island, Gailand of St. George, Eugene of Fredericton, Brock of St. Andrews; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edmund, of Pennfield; one sister, Vivian Calhoune, of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, Main St., St. George. The funeral service was held on Sunday at t he St. George United Baptist Church at 1:30pm with Rev. Jonathan Steeper officiating. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery, NB.

BRADFORD, VICTOR HUGO Sr. - 1883-1975 - Victor Hugh Bradford Sr., died in his 92nd year at Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, NB, on June 18th, 1975. He had been in failing health for some time. Mr. Bradford, the eldest of the family of the late Martin and Lola (Barney) Bradford has resided in Blacks Harbour 84 years. His wife, the former Linnie Towers, predeceased him in 1970, also three sons, Eugene, Howard and Eric. He went to work for Connors Bros. Ltd. in 1895 and was promoted to foreman when 30 years old, later become Assistant Superintendent of the Company, a position he held for a number of years. He retired at the age of 68. He was a faithful member of the United Baptist Church being one of the residents of the village instrumental in organizing a Baptist church here. At the time of his death he was the oldest member and had been a deacon since its organization sixty years ago and was Superintendent of the Sunday School for many years. He was also a school trustee when the first High School was built in the village and was one of the players of the first baseball team organized in 1899. He was always interested in sports and was an accomplished musician, the violin being his favourite instrument. He made four violins, one for each of his sons. He is survived by three sons: Victor H. of St. George, Edmund W. of Pennfield, Hazen J. of Blacks Harbour; two daughters: (Doris) Mrs. Delbert Springer of Ingleside, Ontario, and Mrs. Vivian Calhoun of Saint John; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Donald and Miles of Pennfield; three sisters: Mrs. Chipman H. Brewer of Blacks Harbour, Mrs. Wendell Estabrooks of Marysville and Mrs. Wesley Leavitt of St. George, NB. The funeral was held with prayers at the home followed by service in Calvary United Church with Pastor Robert Johnson officiating, assisted by Rev. H. Reed and Rev. J. Fancy. The choir sang two favourite selections of the deceased and Pastor and Mrs. Johnson sang "The Rafted Rock", a request of Deacon Bradford. Burial was in Blacks Harbour Community Cemetery. The honorary pallbearers were deacons of the church. Pallbearers were grandsons, Howard Bradford, Eric Bradford, Brock Bradford, Elbridge Calhoun and a nephew, Walter Bradford. The floral tributes were numerous from friends and relatives and included Officers and Directors of Connors Bros. Ltd., H. W. Welch Ltd., Machine Shop, Royal Trust Company, United Pentecostal Church and Calvary United Baptist Church. There were also donations made to the Woman's Missionary Society, the Wesleyan Church, Baptist Church, Cancer Society, Heart Foundation and Gideon Memorial and Funday Association, Blacks Harbour Community Cemetery and Eastern Charlotte School and many others.

BRADFORD, VINCENT ALAN - 1928-2005 - Peacefully, at his residence in St. George, NB, on February 6, 2005, Mr. Vincent Alan Bradford, husband of Eleanor B. (Parker) Bradford. Born in Blacks Harbour, NB on August 6, 1928, he was a son of the late Walter Winfield and Margaret Mary (Donahue) Bradford. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived, besides his wife, by one son, Gary (Judith) Bradford of Fredericton; one daughter, Gail (Lorne Hudson) of Saint John; two step-daughters, Faith (Grant) Hooper of Back Bay and Angela (Joey) Johnson of Deer Island; five grandchildren, Nathan of Vancouver, BC, Sarah of Saint John, Acacia and Mitchell Johnson, Nicole (Mike) Thompson; two great-grandsons, Keenan and Konner; two brothers, Grovenor (Caroline) Bradford of Fredericton, Joseph (Ruby) of Blacks Harbour; one sister, Lola Milbury of Toronto, ON; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Vincent was pre-deceased by his first wife, Madge Marie (Storey); three brothers, Walter, Martin and Raymond; four sisters, Jacqueline Suttie, Nellie Beney, Cavell Carson and Sharon Jewett. Vincent was a machinist by trade and worked for many years at Connors Bros. Ltd., Blacks Harbour, until 1977, when he left to begin a machine shop with Harold Bradford Sr. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman when his health permitted. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge F & AM #12 of St. George, a past member of the Board of Trade and the Chamber of Commerce. By Vincent's request, there will be no visiting at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 10th at 2 pm from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the St. George Funeral Home with Rev. Wade Bradford officiating. Interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring. BRADFORD, W. EDMUND WALLACE - 1910-1992 - The death of William Edmund Wallace Bradford occurred on November 13, 1992 at the Fundy Hospital, Blacks Harbour. "Eddy" as he was known, was born at Blacks Harbour, Oct.ober 31, 1910, a son of the late Victor H. Bradford Sr. and Linnie Eva (Towers) Bradford. He lived the greater part of his lifetime here in this community, where he attended the local school; later he attended the Vocational School in Saint John, graduating with a machinist diploma. For a period of 45 years he was employed with Connors Bros. Ltd. as a machinist. He was a member of Calvary United Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees for several years. In his spare time he enjoyed doing carpentry work. Surviving are his son Howard Dale Bradford of Oak Hill, Florida; three granddaughters, Wendy Reeve, Catherine Hayward and Vivian Kisk; one sister, Mrs. Vivian Calhoun of Saint John; several cousins; nephews and nieces. His wife the former (Betty) Elizabeth Barter of Peniac, N.B. died in 1990. And besides his parents "Eddy" is predeceased by two sons, Brian and Borden; three grandsons, Daniel, William, and Brian Bradford; four brothers, Eugene, Eric, Howard and Hazen Bradford; one sister, Mrs. Doris Springer. The funeral service was held in the Chapel of the St. George Funeral Home, with Rev. Gerald H. Burke, pastor of Calvary United Baptist Church of Blacks Harbour officiating. Two favorite hymns were rendered by Mrs. Ellen Bradford, Beautiful Isle of Somewhere and How Great Thou Art, who was organist for the service. Six nephews served as the pallbearers: Victor Jr., James, Eric, and Brock Bradford, Eldridge and Calhoun. Interment was in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Many beautiful floral tributes were received and a number of donations made to memorial funds. BRADFORD, WALTER JOHN - At Collingwood Nursing Home, Pennfield, on August 9, 1995, Mr. Walter John Bradford, in his 75th year, formerly of Black's Harbour, son of the late Winfield and Margaret (Donahue) Bradford. Survived by four sisters, Cavell (Mrs. Floyd Carson) of Maine, USA, Lola (Mrs. Paul Milbury) of Havelock, Ont., Nellie (Mrs. Warren Beney) of St. George, Sharon (Mrs. David Jewett) of Fredericton; three brothers, Vincent of St. George, Joseph of Black's Harbour, Grovener of Fredericton; one aunt, Nellie Justason of Seeley's Cove; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Martin, Raymond and Windsor and one sister, Jacqueline Suttie. Mr. Bradford started for Connor's Brothers at the age of eight and retired after serving several years as orderly at the Fundy Hospital in Black's Harbour. He was an avid bowler and curler being a former member of the Black's Harbour Curling Club. Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B. A funeral service was held at the Black's Harbour United Pentecostal Church on Friday at 2 p.m. with interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. BRADFORD, WINFIELD W. - 1896-1949 - Blacks Harbour, October 17, 1949 - Winfield Bradford passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday evening, October 16, 1949. Funeral services were held on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, and ten children: Walter, Marney, Raymond, Vincent, Joseph, Grovener, Carvel, Nellie, Lola and Jacqueline and several grandchildren.

BREWER, CHIPMAN HERON - 1898-1973 - At the Fundy Hospital, Blacks Harbour, July 15, 1973, Chipman Heron Brewer, husband of Gladys Brewer (Bradford); survived by his wife, son, one daughter, one sister, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Born on June 22, 1898 in Marysville, NB, son of the late Herbert Brewer and Susan (Heron) Brewer. Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, St. George, until Monday afternoon when the body was taken to his residence, Blacks Harbour., where prayers were said at 2 pm. Wednesday followed by service in the Calvary United Baptist Church. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.

BREWER, GLADYS A. (BRADFORD) - 1897-1984 - Gladys A. Brewer (Bradford) at LaChute, Quebec, on Saturday, January 7, 1984, in her 86th year. Beloved wife of the late Chipman H. Brewer of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; dear mother of Aldena (Mrs. John Leggit) of St. Andrews East, Quebec, and Allison Brewer of Kingston, Ontario; loving grandmother of five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Donald of Pennfield, N.B. and sisters: Millie (Mrs. Wesley Leavitt) of St. George, N.B. and Freda (Mrs. Wendall Estabrooks) of Fredericton, N.B. COOKE, MILDRED MARGUERITE (BRADFORD) - 1931-2002 - After a brief illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 12, 2002, Mrs. Mildred M. (Bradford) Cooke of Blacks Harbour, wife of the late Allen E. Cooke. Born in Blacks Harbour on June 18, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Effie (Camick) Bradford. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her son, Lance (Isabelle) of Scotsburn, Nova Scoia; two daughters, Wanda Hanley (Frederick) of Back Bay and Orinda Babineau (Joseph) of Blacks Harbour; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; special friend Colin Mair and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one son, Jeffrey, one brother, Ted and one sister, Gladys. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, from where the service will be held on Friday at 2 pm with Rev. ESTABROOKS, PAUL HAROLD - 1952-2012 - The passing of Paul Harold Estabrooks occurred Sunday, October 07, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born April 19, 1952 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Wendell and Freda (Bradford) Estabrooks. Paul is survived by three sisters, Gladys Arnold of Marysville, NB, Betty King of Kingsclear, NB and Patricia Hamilton of Kingsclear, NB; brother-in-law, Buster Poore of Marysville, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by four brothers, James, Keith, Kenny and Junior and two sisters, Myrtle and Eileen. There will be no visitation or Memorial Service by request. A Private Interment will take place at the Marysville United Baptist Cemetery at a later date. GAGNE, IRENE FAYE (BRADFORD) - 1946-2007 - Peacefully at her residence in Blacks Harbour NB, surrounded by her family, on October 25, 2007, Mrs. Irene Faye (Bradford) Gagne, wife of Mr. Louis Joseph Gagne. Born in Blacks Harbour on February 5, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Cora (Burrell) Bradford. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and ever loving person, Irene is survived by her husband Louis, two daughters; Rose Collette of Ottawa ON and Selena (Mark) Bannerman of Barney's River NS, two sons; Charles "Chuck" (Erica) Gagne of Fredericton NB, and Chris Gagne (Debbie MacDougall) of Blacks Harbour, eight grandchildren; Corine, Anne, Cody, Serena, Roman, Tristan, Ashton and Duncan, two brothers; Freddie (Alice) Bradford of Hampton NB and Donnie (Evelyn) Bradford of Utopia NB, three sisters; Twilia (Leo) Rhynold of Beaver Harbour, Judy Bradford (Doreen Booth) of Saint John NB and Dolores (Doug) Lockhart of Blacks Harbour, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was employed most of her working life with Connors Bros. in Blacks Harbour. Through the years, she was very active and involved with numerous events and organizations throughout her community. She had a special love for others and loved every person she met. Irene enjoyed gardening and to spend time with her grandchildren and family. She loved to read the Bible and serving the Lord. Irene also found pleasure in shopping for gifts for others. GAUDETTE, BURRELL CLARENCE - Unexpectedly at his residence, 5156 Route 1, Pennfield, NB on August 3, 2002, Mr. Burrell Clarence Gaudette, husband of Doreen (Palk) Gaudette. Born in Blacks Harbour on July 5, 1953, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ann Marie (Bradford) Gaudette. A loving husband, father and brother, he is survived by his wife; one son, Thomas of Petawawa, Ontario; one sister, Faith Gagne of Blacks Harbour; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Burrell was an electrician by trade, having worked for various companies, including Connors Bros. and Saint John Shipbuilding. He was presently employed with Southwest Electrical and Security in St. Stephen. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and boating. He truly enjoyed life to the fullest. Resting at St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The service will be held from the United Pentecostal Church, Blacks Harbour, NB on Tuesday, August 6th at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. GUITARD, LILLIAN ARVELLA (BRADFORD) - Lillian Guitard the wife of the late Theodore Guitard, of Old Black River Road, died peacefully with her family at her side at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on April 13th, 2005. Born in Black's Harbour, NB, a daughter of the late Myles and Alma (Wade) Bradford. Lillian worked at Red Rose Tea for 17 years, then as a school bus driver for 20 years at District #8 until her retirement. The love of her life was her family and trailering with her friends at Wally's in Cambridge Narrows. Her greatest passion was quilting. She enjoyed outings with her best friend Shirley Knox. She loved figure skating. Lillian also loved to bowl in her spare time. Lillian was a loving mother to three daughters; Vickie Watson (Ron), Susan Dean (David "Hucky") of Saint John, NB and Barbara Kelly of Toronto, ON; one son, Norman (Edie) of Saint John, NB; four sisters, Bernadeen Terrell, Ellen Borthwick, Bertha Muise, and Floretta Perreault; one brother, Brad Bradford; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents Lillian was predeceased by two brothers, Theodore and Chipman Bradford. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB. With Visitation on Saturday from 7-9 pm and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. JUSTASON, KATHLEEN BUELAH (BRADFORD) - 1889-1971 - The funeral of Mrs. Warren (Kathleen) Justason was held at Calvary United Baptist Church, Blacks Harbour, on Wednesday, June 16, 1971, with Rev. Downey officiating assisted by Rev. J. F. McElhinney, pastor of the Wesleyan Church and the Rev. William Ring, retire Pentecostal pastor. The pallbearers were Hollis Steen. Laurence Dougan, Carroll Wright, Terrence Wright, Daniel Dougan and Michael Dougan, three sons-in-laws and three grandsons. Born in Eastport, Maine, Mrs. Justason came to Canada when 3 years old and was a lifelong resident of Blacks Harbour. She was noted for her knitting projects of which many socks and mittens went to N. B. Protestant Orphans' Home. In her82nd year, she was still active in church work. She had been a member of United Baptist Church for more than 45 years. Mrs. Justason's death occurred at Fundy Hospital on June 13, 1971. The body rested at her home until services at the church. She was one of Blacks Harbour's leading and most loved citizens. Left to mourn, beside her husband of 64½ years, are five sons, Harold, Basil and Robert of Blacks Harbour. George of Waweig and Burton of Rothesay; five daughters: Mrs. Hollis Steen (Lola) of Blacks Harbour, Mrs. Kenneth Skerreet (Gladys) of Burlington, Ont., Mrs. Laurence Dougan (Mildred) of Blacks Harbour, Mrs. Carroll Wright (Freda) of St. Andrews and Mrs. Barbara McLean of Blacks Harbour. She had 55 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren besides many nephews and nieces. Many beautiful floral tributes were received, among them from Calvary and Wesleyan churches, Canadian Tuna Co., the Blacks Harbour Composite School, Canadian Legion and Canadian Legion Auxiliary Branch No. 39, Machine Shop Employees, Construction Crew Employees and Packers of Connors Bros. Ltd., Saint John Airport Emergency Service and Sat Fast ball Team; also many memoriam donations for Heart Fund, Cancer Society, Canadian Bible Society, Missionary Union and Fundy Hospital. She will be sadly missed by the whole community.

JUSTASON, NELLIE (BRADFORD) - 1891-1968 - The death of Mrs. John A. Justason occurred at Fundy Hospital, Blacks Harbour, on January 27, 1968, following a few days of illness. A native of Eastport, Maine, she was the former Nellie Beatrice Bradford and was a daughter of the late Martin B. and Lola Jane Bradford, born November 17, 1891. Moving to Blacks Harbour with her parents at an early age, Mrs. Justason had since resided in this village. She was a charter member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church and was pianist for the church for a number of years. Surviving are two sons: Reginald A. and Arnold A. Justason; and two daughters: Mrs. Joseph Surette and (Vivian) and Mrs. Russell C. Tucker (Helen), all of Blacks Harbour; also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Victor and Donald Bradford of Blacks Harbour, Myles and Theodore Bradford of Pennfield; four sisters: Mrs. Warren Justason (Kathleen) and Mrs. Chipman Brewer (Gladys) of Blacks Harbour, Mrs. Wendell Estabrooks (Freda) of Marysville and Mrs. Wesley Leavitt (Mildred) of St. George; and several nieces and nephews. The largely attended funeral was held from her home to the Wesleyan Methodist Church, where the service was conducted by the minister, Rev. K. L. Gorvette, assisted by Rev. H. D. McNair and Rev. L. B. Estabrooks. During the service a duet was sung by Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Owens of Deer Island. The pallbearers were Basil Justason, Ernest, Harold, Roy and Vincent Bradford and Bernard Moses. Interment was in the Blacks Harbour Community Cemetery. Attending the funeral were relatives and friends from St. Andrews, Deer island, Marysville, Fredericton, and from all areas of the District.

JUSTASON, WARREN C. - 1862-1974 - Friends and relatives were saddened to hear of the death of Warren Charles Justason, which occurred at the Fundy Hospital on October 18, 1974, after a few days of illness. Mr. Justason was born December 19, 1862, son of the late George and Ida (CalIs) Justason, and has been a life-long resident of Blacks Harbour. Until his retirement he was employed with Connors Bros. Ltd. of Black Harbour as foreman of a construction crew. In his younger days he was a fisherman and always loved the sea, and since his retirement has spent his time building models of sailing ships, some of which are on display at the New Brunswick Museum. Mr. Justason was a deacon of the Calvary United Baptist Church for 40 years and has been honorary deacon for the past fifteen years. His wife, the former Kathleen Bradford, predeceased him several years ago. Mr. Justason is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Lola Steen of Saint John, Mrs. Kenneth Skerrett (Gladys) of Burlington, Ontario, Mrs. Lawrence Dougan (Mildred) of Blacks Harbour, Mrs. Carroll Wright (Freda) of St. Andrews, Mrs. Barbara McLean of Blacks Harbour; four sons: Basil and Robert of Blacks Harbour, George Jr. of Waweig and Burton of Goose Bay, Labrador; one brother, George Sr. of Blacks Harbour, and three sisters: Mrs. Minnie Walsh and Mrs. Robert Moses of Blacks Harbour, and Mrs. William Yeldon, Florida; 54 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held with prayers at the house, to the Calvary United Baptist Church, service was conducted by Lic. Robert M. Johnson assisted by Rev John D. Fancy of the Wesleyan Church. The combined choirs of the Calvary United Baptist and the Wesleyan Church sang two of his favorite hymns and Lic. Robert Johnson sang the beautiful hymn "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were six grandson: Michael and Danny Dougan, Dougall and Neil McLean and Philip and Billy Justason. Interment was made in the Blacks Harbour Community Cemetery.

LEAVITT, MILDRED "MILLIE" MARGUERITE (BRADFORD) - 1898-1990 - After a brief illness at the Fundy Hospital, Blacks Harbour, Tuesday, October 23, 1990, Mildred Marguerite Leavitt, 92, widow of the late Wesley John Leavitt Sr. of St. George, daughter of the late Martin and Lola Bradford; survived by five sons, Wesley of Blacks Harbour, Frank of Fredericton, Keith and Herbert of St. George and Vance of Pennfield; two daughters, Norma Brown of London, Ontario, and Mildred (Tilley) Parks of St. George; one brother, Don of Pennfield; 32 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 17 brothers and sisters. Rested at the St. George Funeral Home. Survived by her husband, maternal grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Spencer of McAdam, three sons, Lorne Jr. (Sonny) of Dartmouth, N.S., Colin of Pennfield, Frank of Blacks Harbour, four daughters, Brenda Gaudet of Pennfield, Lorna Harris of St. George, Mary Bustard of Fredericton, Coralee Sommerville of Saint John, 17 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four brothers, Frederick of Hampton, Roy, Donald Jr. and Harold, all of Pennfield, four sisters, Mrs. Twilah Rhynold of Beaver Harbour, Irene Gagne, Judy Sommerville and Delores Lockhart, all of Blacks Harbour, several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Predeceased by one brother, Burrell Bradford and three sisters, Prena Deveau, Anne Gaudet and Stella Steeves. Mrs. McGarrigle was born in Blacks Harbour, was the daughter of the late Donald and Cora (Burrell) Bradford. She had worked for Connors Brothers for 35 years. Mr. and Mrs. McGarrigle celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday, March 25, 1995. MEIGHAN, HELEN LOUISE (BRADFORD) - The death of Mrs. Helen Louise Meighan, of South Bay, New Brunswick, wife of the late William Boyle Meighan, occurred on Tuesday, August 4, 1998 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Oak Bay, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Harold L. and Margaret (Davies) Bradford. She is survived by one son, William (Bill) Meighan, of Saint John, two brothers, Donald Bradford and Richard Bradford, both of Oak Bay, two sisters, Nancy (Mrs. Harold Floyd) of Saint John and one sister, Kathleen Morrell. By request there will be no visiting at the funeral home. MORRIS, PHYLLIS B. (BRADFORD) - 1914-2007 - Phyllis B. Morris, 92, of Advocate Harbour, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007, in Bayview Memorial Health Centre, Advocate Harbour. Born in Pennfield, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Beryn and Augusta (Young) Bradford. She is survived by nieces, Joyce Hooker (David), Littleton, Colo.; Janice Norcutt, Washington, D.C.; nephews, Paul Mancuso (Pat), National City, Calif.; Raymond Bradford, Colo.; great nieces and nephews, Christopher and Sean Hooker; Todd Bradford; Nancy and Brian Mancuso. She was predeceased by her husband, Capt. J. Wilson Morris; sisters, Geraldine and Dorothy; brothers, Stanley and Alden. Visitation Monday, May 28, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. in Advocate United Church, where funeral service followed at 4 p.m., Rev. Sandra Riddell officiating. Burial in Advocate Cemetery. MUISE, BERTHA YVONNE (BRADFORD) - 1937-2013 - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 6, 2014, with family at her side, Mrs. Bertha Yvonne (Bradford) Muise, wife of Mr. Irvin T. Muise of Pennfield NB. Born at Black's Harbour NB on June 24, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Myles and Elma (Wade) Bradford. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Irvin, she is survived by one son, Murray Muise of Calgary AB, one daughter, Tracy (Jay) Erickson of New York, two grandchildren, one sister, Floretta Perreault of Pennfield NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers and by two sisters. Prior to retirement, Bertha work at Connors Brothers in Black's Harbour for many years. She was a long-time member of the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church. Resting at the Black's Harbour Wesleyan Church, Black's Harbour NB from where the service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Nelson Koonce officiating. The interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. Visiting at the church will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. PARKS, MILDRED, LILLIAN (LEAVITT) - 1929-2009 - At the Passamaquoddy Lodge Nursing Home, St. Andrews NB, following a brief illness, on February 5, 2009, Mrs. Mildred Lillian (Leavitt) Parks, wife of the late Tilley Beecher Parks, formerly of St. George NB. Born at Milltown NB on November 27, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Mildred (Bradford) Leavitt. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Mildred is survived by five sons; Jim (Shirley) Parks, Richard (Sally) Parks, Larry (Bonnie) Parks and Mike Parks all of St. George and Bobby (Penny) Parks of St. Stephen NB, one daughter, Brenda Hanley (Barry Logan) of Saint John NB, eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, five brothers; Herbie (Rose) Leavitt of St. George, Vance Leavitt of Pennfield NB, Frank (Mavis) Leavitt of Beaver Harbour NB, Wesley Leavitt of Blacks Harbour NB and Keith (Alice) Leavitt of Breadalbane, NB and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Tilley, Mildred was predeceased by one daughter, Lori and by two sisters; Norma Brown and Joyce Hanson. Mildred enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Ontario and two years ago she finally was able to visit Jasper AB and the Rockies. She was an avid fan of Jeopardy and gave a lifetime of loving care to her son Michael. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Sunday at 2 pm with Rev. Andrew Regich officiating. The interment will be held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. Visiting at the funeral home on Saturday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. POORE, EILEEN (ESTABROOKS) - 1928-2008 - Eileen, wife of Buster Poore, Marysville, NB, passed away peacefully with her four children at her side on Sunday evening, November 16, 2008, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 14, 1928, in Black's Harbour, she was the daughter of the late Wendall and Freda (Bradford) Estabrooks. In addition to her husband, Eileen is survived by two sons, Dana (Linda) of Coalhurst, AB, Charles (Tanya) of Marysville, NB; two daughters, Donna (John) MacKay of Woodstock, NB, Jennifer Kehoe of Marysville, NB; eight grandchildren, Anna Poore, Colby and Tyrel Poore, Gareth, Allison and Mallory MacKay, Darcy and Courtney Kehoe; great-grandaughter, Peyton Kehoe; two step-great grandchildren, Zachary Neville and Tayler Yanke; brother, Paul Estabrooks at home; sisters, Gladys Arnold of Marysville, NB, Betty King (Gordon) of Kingsclear, NB, Patricia Hamilton of New Maryland, NB; special son, Michael Kehoe of Calgary, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Eileen was predeceased by an infant sister, Myrtle; brothers, James, Keith, Kenneth and Wendall (Junior). She lived in Marysville all her life, working in the Cotton Mill for many years and later employed by Ronald and Lynwood Evans (Imperial Oil), retiring in 1984 after 17 years. Eileen enjoyed bowling and her Toronto Blue Jays. She was never without her knitting and was happiest when knitting for family. In particular, family members were always pleased to receive her Christmas stockings. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Reverend Paul Thompson on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Pallbearers for the service are Terry Allen, Roger Irvine, Greg Greer, John MacKay, Peter Estabrooks and Tony Arnold; Honourary Pallbearers are Michael Kehoe, Todd Gammon and Chuck Irvine. Interment will take place in the Marysville Baptist Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of the donor's choice.

SPRAY, ALICE MAUD (BRADFORD) - 1885-1958 - Funeral service for Mrs. Alice Spray, whose death occurred in Saint John General Hospital on Monday, October 6, 1958, following a lengthy illness, was held in Reformed Baptist Church at Blacks Harbour conducted by Rev. W. L. Fernley of Saint John. He was assisted by Rev. Joseph Moses Jr. of Calais, Maine. Pallbearers were Martin, Raymond, Vincent and Roy Bradford, Melvin Leavitt and Otis Beney. Interment was in the old Baptist Cemetery at Blacks Harbour. Mrs. Spray was born at Eastport, Maine, 73 years ago and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Emma (Hickey) Bradford. Moving to Blacks Harbour with her parents when in her early girlhood where she made her home until 1945, she moved to Saint John and since that time has resided with her son, Horace, and Mrs. Spray. While a resident here, Mrs. Spray was active in the work of Reformed Baptist Church of which she was a member. Surviving are four sons: Earle and Carroll Spray of Blacks Harbour, Horace Spray of Saint John and Franklin Spray serving with the RCAF in France; two daughter, Mrs. P. T. Gould (Emma) of St. George and Mrs. Gordon Urquhart (Anna) of Pennfield, as well as 26 grandchildren, several nephews and nieces; two brothers, William Bradford of California and Horace Bradford of Robinson, Maine, and a sister, Mrs. Eva Dinsmore of Lubec, Maine. Relatives attended the funeral from Saint John and Pennfield.

STEEVES, STELLA ELIZABETH (BRADFORD) - 1936-1994 - At the Moncton Hospital on Monday, May 2, 1994, Mrs. Stella E. Steeves of Ogden Drive, Riverview, N.B. Born in Blacks Harbour, N.B. on October 27, 1936 (age 57 years), daughter of Donald Bradford and Cora Burrell. She was a retired school teacher of West Riverview Elementary School after 30 years. She was a member of the St. Paul's United Church, Riverview, N.B. and the New Brunswick Teachers Association. She is survived by her husband, Charles G. Steeves, two daughters, Paula and her husband, Richard Goad of Riverview and Barbara and her husband, Venning Goad of Truro, N.S., four sons, Charles Jr. and his wife, Carolee Steeves of Hampton, N.B., Tom and his wife, Chrystal Steeves of Fredericton, N.B., Brian and his wife, Janice Steeves of Calgary, Alberta, Mark and his fiancée, Patricia Cook of Riverview, N.B., nine grandchildren, Shelley, Shannon, Michael, Shane, Briana, Kayla, Devonne, Heidi and Jared, one great-granddaughter, Zoe, five sisters, Donaldean, Twilah, Irene, Judy and Delores, all of Charlotte County, four brothers, Roy, Harold, Donald, all of Charlotte County and Fred Bradford of Hampton, N.B., numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters, Ann and Prena and by one brother, Burrell. Resting at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview. STUART, GLADYS ARVIL (BRADFORD) - 1929-1997 - Peacefully at the Fundy Health Center, Blacks Harbour on February 8, 1997, Mrs. Gladys Arvil (Bradford) Stuart of Blacks Harbour, wife of Kenneth N. Stuart. Born in Blacks Harbour, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Elizabeth (Camick) Bradford. She was an employee of Connors Bros. Ltd. for over 25 years. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Cornel of Winnipeg, Michael of Blacks Harbour and Peter of Dartmouth, N.S., five daughters, Natasha Westhaven of Winnipeg, Terry, Mrs. Eugene Savoy, Andrea Savoy and Wendy, Mrs. William Quinn all of Blacks Harbour and Linda, Mrs. Paul Brownrigg of St. Stephen, 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ernie and Robert Bradford of Blacks Harbour, two sisters, Mildred Cook of Blacks Harbour and Elizabeth (Libby), Mrs. Raymond Allen of Winnipeg, several nieces and nephews. STUART, KENNETH NORVAL "KENNY" - 1926-2008 - At the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour NB on May 5th, 2008, Mr. Kenneth Norval Stuart husband of the late Gladys (Bradford) Stuart of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Blacks Harbour on December 29, 1926, he was the son of the late Robert and Ethel (Cook) Stuart. A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by four daughters; Terry (Eugene) Savoy of Blacks Harbour, Linda (Paul) Brownrigg of St. Stephen, Andrea Savoy and Wendy (Bill) Quinn both of Blacks Harbour, three sons; Cornel (Lorraine) of Winnipeg MB, Mike (Bettie) of Blacks Harbour and Peter (Dawn) of Dartmouth NS, 18 grandchildren, 17 and ½ great grandchildren, two sisters; Pearl Thorne of Mississauga ON and Madeline Gaudet of Pennfield NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife Gladys, he was predeceased by one daughter, Natasha Westhaver of Winnipeg and one sister, Dorothy Ross. Prior to his retirement Kenny worked for Connors Bros. for over 50 years. Beginning at their Mill in Blacks Harbour, which became Harbour Home Supplies and later Keith's Building Supplies from where he retired in 1991. Kenny was an avid reader who loved western novels. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially driving the back roads in search of deer and other wildlife and snowshoeing. He loved traveling, and took frequent trips to Kings Landing where he was a member of the Kings Landing Historical Society. He also enjoyed taking frequent tours at Ganong's in St. Stephen. Kenny also liked going to the Post Office to visit his many friends. His other favourite past times were baking bread, woodworking and filing saws as he was known throughout the area as the best. He will be sadly missed by his family whom he visited and often helped in many ways whenever he could. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Calvary Baptist Church in Blacks Harbour on Friday at 2:00 pm followed by the interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. THOMPSON, ANNIE M. (BRADFORD) - 1887-1949 - Suddenly at her residence, Manawagonish Road, Fairville, on April 3, 1949, Annie M. Thompson, wife of Edward T. Thompson, survived by her husband, two sons, one daughter, two grandchildren, four brothers, two sisters, several nephews and nieces. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home until noon Wednesday. Funeral will be held from Pentecostal Church, Blacks Harbour on Wednesday, service 2:30pm. Interment at Blacks Harbour Cemetery.
